What is Yagnopavit 
(Janoi)

Yagnopavit ceremony is also known as Upanayanam, Janeu, or Janoi Sanskaar. It is routinely known for being the 10th Hindu sanskar,  where the concept of Brahman is taught to a young boy.

The significance

During the ceremony, the child is invested with the sacred thread "Janoi" or “Yagñopaveetam” which symbolizes the boy’s spiritual commitment and marks his entry into the second stage of life, called “Brahmacharya”.

He will start learning the Vedas, rituals, and spiritual disciplines, which is the main purpose of Upanayana.
